The Daniel Carter Beard House shares with the Roebling Suspension Bridge the distinction of being one of two National Historic Landmarks in Northern Kentucky. It is located in Covington's Licking-Riverside Historic District at the confluence of the Ohio and Licking River across from downtown Cincinnati.

East Third Street runs parallel to, and two blocks south of the Ohio River.

Number 322 is the east-most building on Third Street and is located where East Third Street ends at the Licking River. The House's grounds include 750 feet of wooded riverfront along the Licking River  between Second Street and Fourth Street.

The  distinctive  building was the boyhood home Of Boy Scout Founder Daniel Carter Beard. There is a larger-than life  bronze statue of  "Uncle Dan", a plaza and several commemorative plaques  in front.

Private parking for five or six cars is available at the end of the street in front of the building.

FROM northbound I-75/I-7I and the International Airport (CVG):  The last exit before crossing the Ohio River is Fifth Street which is a one-way headed east. Drive east (you won't have any other choice when you exit) 6-7 blocks to where Fifth makes a "T" at Garrard St. From the left lane (the right lane also turns left), turn left and continue two blocks north on Garrard St to Third Street.  The Beard House is at the end of Third Street to your right (east).

FROM Cincinnati (Downtown): Cross the Roebling Suspension Bridge (which is most easily approached from Race Street). The first opportunity to turn or bear left after crossing the Ohio is Third Street. The Beard House is 2-1/2 blocks east on E. Third St.

FROM Newport:  Third Street in Newport is a west-bound, one-way street that merges with Fourth Street at the bridge to Covington that crosses the Licking River. Go west on Third and turn right (north) at the first street after crossing the river (Garrard St). Go one block to Third Street.  The Beard House is at the end of Third St. to your right (east).
